THE HISTORY OF PARAGLIDING

Paragliding was born in the 1970s in France, when free flight enthusiasts began running down slopes with modified parachutes. The discipline quickly evolved into a full-fledged sport, combining the sensation of freedom, technical prowess, and connection with nature. Today, Les Voyageurs du Ciel continues this tradition in Gréolières, in the Alpes-Maritimes, offering tandem flights and paragliding courses accessible to everyone, in an exceptional natural setting perfect for adventure and escape.

HOW DOES A PARAGLIDER WORKS

Paragliding is an ultralight glider made up of a fabric wing, suspension lines, and a harness. Take-off usually happens on foot from a slope, as is the case at the various take-off sites in Gréolières. Once in the air, the pilot uses thermal updrafts to gain altitude and extend the flight. Thanks to this magical wing, you will see the French Riviera as you’ve never seen it before.
“We’ve all dreamed of flying at some point. As children or adults, it always seemed out of reach. And yet, it’s possible. You can access 360° freedom with nothing but a simple backpack. At Les Voyageurs du Ciel in Gréolières, we take you into a fantastic, breathtaking world filled with little white clouds, landscapes invisible from the ground, birds and raptors soaring alongside you in this symphony — an anthem to freedom, with splendor and grace. Fly, be free, be alive, be happy.”

Q & A

Who can go paragliding?

Everyone can fly with Les Voyageurs du Ciel, at any age — children, adults, with family or friends… tandem paragliding is accessible to all and requires no particular skills. For people over 100 kg, a specific request must be made to the school. There is no minimum or maximum age requirement! A minimum weight of 35 kg may be required, except for the Colibri flight designed for children. For the latter, it’s important that the child feels confident and is eager to fly. This is the only condition to go paragliding at Gréolières.

Yes! Even if you have vertigo, you can absolutely go paragliding.
Vertigo is a sensation that occurs when you’re in contact with the ground (like on a balcony or a cliff). However, when paragliding, you have no fixed reference points under your feet, which means that the vast majority of people prone to vertigo do not feel it at all during the flight.Tandem paragliding is therefore an excellent way to overcome your fears and experience a unique aerial adventure — even if you have vertigo on the ground!

Paragliding is a safe activity when practiced under good conditions and supervised by experienced instructors. At Les Voyageurs du Ciel, in Gréolières, in the Alpes-Maritimes (06), all our tandem paragliding flights are conducted by state-certified instructors who ensure your safety before, during, and after each flight.

Safety is our top priority, and Les Voyageurs du Ciel in Gréolières does not conduct paragliding flights if the weather conditions are not favorable. The day before your big adventure, the weather forecasts are thoroughly checked to ensure it’s safe to fly tandem.

Paragliding in Gréolières is available every day! Weekends, weekdays, and public holidays included, subject to weather and aerological conditions required for safe flights.
You can decide to go paragliding without a reservation. This happens quite often, but you won’t be guaranteed a flight — it will depend on the schedule, especially during school holidays and summer. It’s therefore recommended to book in advance if you want to paraglide in Gréolières with Les Voyageurs du Ciel.

If you do not have a gift voucher, payment will be made directly at the Les Voyageurs du Ciel school in Gréolières (by check or cash).

It is entirely possible to schedule several flights at the same time, depending on the number of instructors available and the remaining spots on the schedule. Seeing the French Riviera from above is even better when shared!

We provide all the necessary equipment. You only need to bring classic mountain hiking clothes with a pair of sneakers (preferably high-top), plus a light windbreaker or a warmer jacket depending on the weather. Optionally, bring gloves and a good fleece if you’re worried about feeling cold during the cooler season.
We do not require a medical certificate for tandem flights. You just need to be able to take a few running steps at takeoff and landing.
